KnK/Kara-Nakara Kigambo Foundation is a local organisation started by Ugandans in 2009 as Make a Difference Community Development Initiative (MDAI) in Kyenjojo Town Council (Western Uganda) to support local rural communities.
Praise God brethren,
Kara Nakara Kigambo Foundation (KnK) is an Organisation operating in Kyenjojo, Kyegegwa and Kamwenge Districts in Western Uganda. ‘Kara-Nakara Kigambo’ is a Rutooro word to mean 'everything stands on the foundation of the word' as it used to be in the beginning. The name was got from the Bible John 1:1; “In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God. Everything which was made, was made based on the Word”. God used His Word to create all things. We work on the foundation of the Word.
KnK stands to address some challenges affecting Kyenjojo District and Western Uganda at large. Our place is highly affected by Malnutrition, illiteracy for both children and adults, poor road network, Immature politics as a result of lack of civic education. We lack Radio programs to sensitize the community on different programs, some of our vulnerable people completely lack shelter, food, school fees, etc.
We started KnK with an intention of addressing some of these challenges. We believe that we can have a better community once these issues are addressed.
Our Vision is young citizens empowered by good, values-based education ie, education for life and for work just like it was 'in the beginning' (kara-nakara). We are finding the ancient paths of who we are so that we can shape where we are going; what we were created to be
We’re addressing 3 persistent evils problems in Kyenjojo...
- Unemployment: 60% of youths.
- Unfettered Hunger: many anger crimes.
- Urban Migration: 70% of world's population will live in cities by 2050(UN Habitat).
Kyenjojo District has many assets:
+ Kampala-Kasese Tourism highway;
+ Gateway to Fort Portal Tourism City;
+ Chimps in Kibaale Widlife Reserve.
+ Elephants in Semliki Wildlife Reserve.
KnK is based in Kyenjojo Town Council of Kyenjojo District, Western Uganda.
